Samsung hits back at China’s Huawei with patent suit

Huawei

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics said Friday it had filed a patent infringement suit in China against Huawei, adding fuel to a growing legal battle between the rival smartphone makers.
In the suit filed in a Beijing court, the electronics giant demanded millions of dollars in compensation from the Chinese firm for allegedly stealing its mobile imaging and data storage technology.
“Despite our best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, it has regrettably become necessary to take legal action in order to defend our intellectual property,” Samsung said in a statement.
The move came after Huawei had filed a similar suit in a US court in May, accusing Samsung of stealing patents on wireless connectivity for handsets.
Samsung is still the world’s top smartphone maker, but its market dominance has been challenged by the emergence of Chinese firms such as Huawei, pumping out cheaper, lower-end models.
Huawei is now the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, after Samsung and Apple, with a market share of about eight percent, according to the market tracker IDC Research.
Samsung is no stranger to patent rows, having duelled lawsuits with Apple for years in courts around the world.
The two reached a ceasefire in 2014 when they decided to drop all patent disputes outside the United States.

The Best Restaurant in Africa is The Test Kitchen, again

Quickly becoming a regular on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants annual list, Cape Town’s The Test Kitchen rose from last year’s 28thspot to 22nd, jumping six rankings, and continues to lead the field in Africa.
In the last three years, The Test Kitchen has climbed 26 positions, steadily solidifying their prescence on The World’s 50 Best Restaurant list.
According to The World’s 50 Best Restaurant, “Chef Luke Dale-Roberts is the closest thing Cape Town has to a rock star chef – and with good reason. Combining culinary braggadocio and classical technique, his food would stand out in any of the world’s gastronomic capitals, but in the South African city it’s pretty much unique.”
Known as an experimental food theatre in Cape Town, some of the dishes that you will typically see at The Test Kitchen will arrive with a theatrical flourish but the “Light Curry Glazed” signature is the most memorable on the tasting menu: the local fish first arrives, steaming between two concrete flowers pots, sitting on charcoal, before it is plated and brought back atop a carrot and cashew purée, finished with carrot beurre noisette.

Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian are expecting a baby girl

BLAC-CHYNA

Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian are reportedly expecting a baby girl, despite her father claiming they are having a boy.
While the make-up artist’s dad Eric Holland recently insisted they are having a son, it has now been claimed the couple – whose little one is due in October – are having a daughter, according to a source closer to the pair.
A Kardashian insider told Us Weekly magazine: “Rob couldn’t be happier.”
The pair are said to be making preparations for an “over-the-top extravagant nursery” for their impending little one at the sock designer’s $2.2 million Calabasas home.
Fans of the couple – who got engaged in April after four months of dating – will be pleased to know the cameras have already started filming Rob, 29, and Blac, 28, ahead of their E! series on her pregnancy.
A source said: “Everything will be on the show.”
Rob is said to have grown closer to his mother Kris Jenner since finding out he is going to be a father for the first time.
The source added: “Kris has been giving him baby advice. They get excited talking about the baby.”
What’s more, Rob’s sister Kim is said to be “definitely the most involved” out of his siblings, but Khloe – who has clashed with Blac in the past – is “learning to accept” the situation.
The former ‘Kocktails with Khloe’ host kicked Rob out of her home when she discovered he was dating Blac earlier this year.
Earlier this week, Blac’s father claimed the pair told him they were having a son when they spent Independence Day with him on July 4.
He said: “Rob and I have had some one-on-one time. All I can say is he’s excited about the prospect of a boy.
“For Angie, the most important thing is that the baby is healthy. They were really excited when it kicked for the first time.
“They’ve chosen a name but they’ve not told anyone what it is. They want to wait until the baby is born.”
